Toma Ikuta, Miki Fujimoto in "Grease"

The hit Broadway musical "Grease" is being performed in Tokyo later this year, and it was announced on Friday that rising actor Toma Ikuta is playing the lead part of Danny Zuko. His supporting cast includes Sayaka Kanda as his girlfriend Sandy, former Morning Musume member Miki Fujimoto as the Pink Ladies leader Rizzo, and Musical Academy member Tomoyuki Yara as Kenickie.

The production opens at the Aoyama Theatre on October 20 and will finish up in Osaka during November.

Isak acts in a musical

Isak (23) of the duo IsakNJiyeon will debut as an actor in the musical “The Life” on May 2 at the Hanjun Art Center in Seoul. Isak debuted in 2002 as part of the female duo IsakNJiyeon and later became a DJ, VJ and sitcom actor.

“The Life” is a black comedy jazz musical set in the 1980s in 42nd Street New York Broadway and tells of the story of love, friendship, pain etc. of people who live as prostitutes, pimps and swindlers. Isak plays the role of Mary who arrives in New York and performs a central role in the other characters’ conflict.

“I’m happy and excited because doing this musical is going to be a new experience. I’m going to work hard and show a great performance for everyone,” Isak said.

Apart from Isak, Yoo Jun Sang and Jun Soo Kyung are also going to perform in the said musical.
